This week, the Toronto International Film Festival is on. As every year since I’ve been with my love, Tiff, I’ve taken the week off to devote to movie-going – and sleeping in, and eating out.
We’re only seeing one or two movies a day, but we’re also trying to do a bit of work on the house in the spare times. As expected, this has wrought havoc with my exercise plans. I did run on Tuesday, but that’s it.
But I’m not going to call this week a “failure” – that’s just not productive. Shit happens, and if your plans don’t include leeway for exceptions, you’re never going to be able to consider your efforts “successful.” If you expect the unexpected, then you don’t have to feel like you’ve fallen off the wagon: You’ve just hit a bump on a road that you know is full of potholes.
